The short answer
Website design in Malaysia is not about looking modern. It is about making a stranger trust you enough to start a conversation. We build fast, mobile-first, trilingual sites (EN / BM / 中文) for businesses in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor, structured so that Google and AI answer engines can read them and so that a buyer on a phone can act without hunting for a way to reach you.
Built for Malaysian SMEs in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor - browse our work by industry or talk to us below.
What makes a website actually work?
A working business website does four things. It loads fast on a mid-range phone on mobile data, because that is how most Malaysian buyers will meet it. It says what you do in the first screen, in the words your buyers use rather than the words your industry uses. It proves you are real, with work, addresses, registration details and named people rather than adjectives. And it makes the next step obvious and single. Everything after that - animation, cleverness, a clever scroll - is decoration on top of those four jobs, and decoration on a site that fails them is money spent making a slow page prettier.
Template vs built-for-you
| DIY / template | Built by Aliq | |
|---|---|---|
| Speed on mobile | Often heavy and slow | Built to a performance budget |
| Found on Google | Generic, thin, duplicated | Structured for search and AI |
| Languages | One, or machine-translated | EN / BM / 中文, written properly |
| Visits to leads | Hope | Clear paths to WhatsApp and enquiry |
| Who owns it | Often the platform or the builder | You do, in your own accounts |
| Changes later | Pay per edit, or wait | You edit it, or we do |

Real work
Sobar by Night had no website at all. We built theirs from scratch, and now they have a home online at sobarbynight.com.

How it works
- 01
Discovery
A short call about your business, your buyers and who you lose deals to. No forms, no questionnaire to fill in before anyone talks to you.
- 02
Structure and copy
We map the pages and write the copy around the questions your buyers actually ask. This is the part that decides whether the site works; design comes after it, not before.
- 03
Design and build
Mobile-first, fast, and built against your real content rather than placeholder text, so nothing breaks when the real words arrive.
- 04
Launch and handover
Hosting, analytics, search setup and a walkthrough, so you can edit the site yourself and you hold every account.
Questions buyers ask
- How much does a website cost in Malaysia?
- It ranges widely. A template site can be a few hundred ringgit, while a built-for-you business site with real copy, trilingual content and search setup costs more because the work is real: someone writes the words, structures the pages and tests it on real devices. We scope to what your business actually needs and quote before anything starts, so there are no add-ons you did not agree to.
- How long does it take?
- A focused business site is usually a few weeks rather than months. The build is rarely the slow part. What sets the pace is content: photographs, service details, prices you are willing to publish, and the approvals inside your company. Projects that supply content quickly finish quickly, and we will tell you at the start exactly what we need from you.
- Do I really need a site in three languages?
- Often not. Trilingual is a decision, not a default. It is worth it when your buyers genuinely search in more than one language, and it is a waste when they do not, because every extra language is content someone has to maintain. We would rather build one language properly than three badly. Machine translation is never an option we offer.
- We already have a website. Can you fix it instead?
- Sometimes, and we will say so honestly. If the foundation is sound the cheaper answer is to fix speed, structure and copy rather than rebuild. If the platform itself is the problem, patching it costs more over two years than replacing it. We look at the current site before quoting and tell you which case you are in.
- Who owns the website when it is finished?
- You do. The domain, the hosting and the content sit in accounts in your name, and we work inside them. If you stop working with us you keep everything and can hand it to anyone. We do not hold sites hostage, and you should be wary of anyone whose contract means you cannot leave.
- Can we update it ourselves afterwards?
- Yes, and the handover walkthrough exists for exactly that. Routine changes such as prices, hours, photographs and new pages are things your team should be able to do without paying anyone. Bring us in for the structural work instead.
- Will the site rank on Google?
- A well-built site is a requirement for ranking, not a guarantee of it. What we control is the part that is buildable: server-rendered content search engines can read, schema markup, clean structure, fast pages and correct technical setup. Ranking against competitors who have been publishing for years is a separate, ongoing job, and anyone who guarantees you a position is telling you something they cannot know.
- What about AI answer engines like ChatGPT?
- The same foundation decides it. AI answer engines read the HTML that is served, so a site whose content only appears after JavaScript runs is often invisible to them. We server-render pages, mark up your business and services in schema, and write in clear, quotable statements, which is what makes a page usable as an answer.
- What do you need from us to start?
- Less than most agencies ask for. A conversation, whatever brand assets exist, and honesty about what you sell and to whom. If you have no photographs, no logo files and no written copy, say so at the start and we will plan around it rather than discovering it halfway through.
