What social media marketing costs in Malaysia.

The short answer

Most Malaysian SMEs pay somewhere between RM750 and RM3,500 a month for managed social media, with premium retainers running higher and ad spend billed separately on top. Our own packages start from RM1,999 a month, which sits below the mid-range band most agencies quote. What moves your number is not the agency — it is how many platforms you need, how often you post, whether the content is graphics or video, how many languages you publish in, and whether someone is managing paid ads as well as posting.

Why quotes for the same service differ so much

A monthly management fee buys a team's time, so the price tracks how much time the work takes. Six things drive it: the number of platforms, posting frequency, content type, community-management load, whether paid ads are managed, and reporting depth. Content type is the biggest single swing — moving from static graphics to shot-on-site video can double a quote, because it adds a shoot day, talent coordination and edit time. Language is the second: publishing in English, Bahasa Malaysia and Mandarin roughly triples the copywriting and review work compared with one language. Ad spend is always separate from the management fee, and any quote worth trusting splits the two.

How much does social media marketing cost in Malaysia?
Managed social media typically runs RM750–3,500 a month for a Malaysian SME, with premium retainers going higher. Ad spend sits on top and is paid to the platform, not the agency. Our packages start from RM1,999 a month.
Is ad spend included in the fee?
No, and you should be sceptical of any quote where it is. The management fee covers the team's time; ad spend goes to Meta or Google directly. Bundling them hides how much of your money is actually reaching an audience.
Why is video more expensive than graphics?
It adds a shoot day, coordination, and edit time — often doubling the hours behind the same number of posts. It also tends to outperform, which is why most quotes above the entry tier assume some video.
Do you charge more for multiple languages?
No. Trilingual content is standard in our packages. Elsewhere in the market it is common to price multi-language work at a premium, because English, Bahasa Malaysia and Mandarin roughly triple the copywriting and review load.
What is the cheapest sensible option?
If your budget is under a few hundred ringgit a month, a phone, a tripod and consistency will beat a cheap retainer. Agencies earn their fee when you need volume, video, or several platforms held to a schedule.
Is there a minimum term?
Ask us for the current terms in writing before you commit. We would rather tell you directly than publish a number that changes.
